Collaborations

Over the years, I’ve been privileged to collaborate with remarkable artists. Here are just a few examples.

With Kal David & the Real Deal featuring Lauri Bono, McCallum Theater.

I had the great honor to be a member of the Real Deal with the legendary Kal David and the extravagantly talented Lauri Bono. During this time, I played left-hand bass and right-hand Hammond blues organ. On the drums, Nate Scott laid down the groove.

Kal, Nate, and I were a raise-the-roof power trio. When Lauri Bono joined us with her throw-down soul and breathtaking voice, I had some of my most exciting and fulfilling experiences as a performing artist.

Playing both bass and organ in the band was quite a challenge, but so much fun. I loved it. And with Nate Scott as my partner in the rhythm section, it was beautiful.

Losing Kal was heartbreaking but he was indeed the real deal, living and playing authentically to the end. Kal once said to me that he would keep on playing “until I don’t mean it.” And so he did.

With Jim Peterik’s Lifeforce featuring Lisa McClowry.

Few musicians have the great good fortune that I did, working with a legend like Jim Peterik. His mega-hit, Eye of the Tiger, is one of the most famous songs of all time, but is just one of Jim’s many song writing triumphs.

I had the privilege of playing in Jim’s band Lifeforce featuring the brilliant and beautiful Lisa McClowry, during the time I lived in Chicago. Lisa is gifted with a superb vocal instrument and she has dedicated her life to the art and craft of vocal performance. I’ve been very fortunate to know her and work with her.

I still collaborate with these dear friends, recording parts from my Joshua Tree studio where I create strings and woodwinds and brass arrangements in addition to piano and keyboards.
